Classical Ballet is the basis for all types of dance. It develops posture, strength, body placement and proper dance technique. Savvy Studios follows the International Dance Teacher Association (IDTA) exam syllabus which is internationally recognised for its high standards however pupils do not need to take exams to attend the classes. 

The various levels of Ballet under the IDTA syllabus are as follows:

• Preparatory Ballet 
• Primary Ballet
• Grade 1
• Grade 2
• Grade 3
• Grade 4
• Grade 5
• Intermediate
• Advanced 1
• Advanced 2

Which class do I choose?

At Savvy Studios we offer Ballet classes to children from 2+ years (Ballet Mini’s). These classes require parental involvement and are a wonderful way of introducing their child to the world of dance. Children are normally ready to attend classes independently at Reception age (4 – 5yrs) and the first class they will be introduced to is Preparatory Ballet. In Year 1 (5 – 6yrs), children attend Primary Ballet classes and as they get older, they have the option to progress up through the different grades.

You can start Ballet at any age! Children beginning ballet after Year 1 have a number of options, depending on their age and ability. These are best discussed with the school Principal.
